Occupational Summary
The individual in this position will serve as the program coordinator for the North Carolina Registry for Brain Health [https://ncbrainhealth.org], a State funded initiative, and the Outreach, Recruitment and Engagement Core of the Duke/UNC Alzheimer’s Disease Research Center (ADRC), funded through the National Institutes of Health. These two projects are very closely aligned in their fundamental aims, which are to: 1) offer opportunities to participate in research to residents of North Carolina, particularly those often underrepresented in research and 2) to provide educational material about brain health and information on support resources for those with cognitive impairment or caring for someone with cognitive impairment.
The coordinator will be part of the Duke coordinating Center for the Registry and ORE Core. Working with the study teams, the duties for this position involve project coordination and community liaison work.

Work Performed
Specific duties are to:
- Coordinate project timelines and track outcomes
- Serve as a central liaison between Duke and the other four collaborating sites
- Orient site coordinators at all sites and work with them to develop strategies and implement plans for meeting targets and goals
- Draft quarterly and annual reports, monthly eblasts, and quarterly newsletters
- Handle requests from researchers for assistance with study recruitment. Liaison to researchers and their study coordinators. Work with data manager to develop plan to send and track recruitment eblasts
- Facilitate meetings with Registry leadership, ORE Core members, advisory boards, and community stakeholders
- Serve as a liaision to community organizations.
- Respond to requests from community members
- Assist with organizing and attending community events

Make operational and programmatic decisions that have a significant impact on the successful achievement of program strategies and objectives; develop, coordinate and advise staff regarding program policy.
Monitor and evaluate program effectiveness using qualitative and quantitative research techniques; investigate trends, and recommend and implement modifications to improve program effectiveness.
Plan, coordinate and administer activities of assigned programs to include developing and implementing procedures, processes, services and systems; train employees in proper methods and procedures and ensure correctness of work.
Budget for, and coordinate, public events and other related programs; develop and coordinate new ideas and concepts for program themes, materials and resources to supplement, expand or replace existing program components.
Coordinate public relations activities to include conceptualizing and writing newsletters, promotional materials, publications, press releases, ads and fliers. Develop plans and schedules for release of publicity materials.
Maintain liaison with other programs, offices and departments at Duke to coordinate program business and to accomplish program objectives; interface with external organizations as appropriate to ensure cooperative efforts are enhanced and available resources are utilized.
Prepare budgets and grants; monitor, verify and reconcile expenditure of budgeted funds as appropriate.
Recommend various personnel actions including, but not limited to, hiring, performance appraisal, promotions, transfers and vacation schedules.
Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein.
